Carb Identification Help
Attached are a couple of photos of the carb which came with a 1934 Pietenpol project with its original 1928 Model A engine. This carb has NO makers identification on it. The only markings on the castings are the words "made in USA" on the inside of the float bowl.
It is very similar to a Zenith Model A carb except for the fact that there are a couple of extra access or drain plugs on the bottom of the bowl. Any idea what this is and what automobile, tractor or equipment it was originally used on? Thanks! Bob C |

Re: Carb Identification Help
It looks like a Simmons but probably not made for the model A. It should work on a model A though

Re: Carb Identification Help
Just for referance here is a pic of a couple of my Simmons carbs . the one on the left is a Simmons alloy made for fuel economy . The one on the right is a castiron Simmons for more performance. These carbs have a tag on top of the upper half attached with drive rivet that states Simmons carburetor for the miodel A Ford .
This pic shows the nam tag on the Simmons alloy These carbs were also sold at Western Auto stores under the name Wizard improved . |
