Light switch bail
Just replaced the light switch, wiring harness, and switch body on my 1930.
Now the light switch bail is too short to snap onto the new switch body. The new body is about 5/8" longer than the old switch body. Does anyone make a longer switch bail to accommodate this longer body? |

Re: Light switch bail
originals are shorter bodies, just flatten the bow, across middle of bail for the repo bodies.

Re: Light switch bail
Actually there is a difference between 28/29 housings and 30/31 light switch housings with the 30/31's being longer. Why Ford did this, I have no idea. I believe that you have a repro or possibly an original 30/31 switch housing and before you must have had a 28/29 housing which is shorter. You either need a longer bail or a 28/29 cover.

Re: Light switch bail
The longer bales were used from early 1930 thru 1937 the years the longer switch was used and the replacements the dealers sell is the longer one you need. The shorter 1928 to early 1930 bale that you have is getting rare and hard to find.

one of the publications states that the housing was made longer to prevent the wiring setup bunching up within it, causing a jam. |
