Default Roadster tulip panel issues

Hi All,

I inherited a project car, 28/29 roadster and the tulip panel is about a half inch short of aligning with the roadster rear quarters. Is what I have the wrong part or is this intentional by Ford?

Thanks!

You didn't state what year or model model A you have. It appears to be a 28 or 29 roadster. You might have the wrong year panel.
You might add the year and body style to your post.

My 29 panel measures 1-1/8" high while my 31 measures 1/2 inch. It appears you are trying to use a 30-31 panel on your 28-29 body.

I was kind of think the same thing as 31steve. If the part is a repro, all bets are off!

Thanks All! Your answers confirmed my suspicion that I had a 30/31 panel. Finding part dimensions is harder than it should be, especially with the technology we have.

Thanks again!

1930-31 panels have a reveal along the front edge and corners. More good pictures, dimensions, etc. of what you have may help to identify it.

Does anybody know why some refer to these as Tulip panels?

The story I read said it’s because the part has two lips, which became known as tulip. I guess it’s similar to Ford’s calling it’s two door car a Tudor, just a play on words.
