Re: 1956 ford
and Granada/Monarch. Don't over look the early Ranger, some were 8.8 and narrow but require spring mount work.

Re: 1956 ford
A 1990 Ranger Super Cab 4x4 will have the correct width, usually a 3.73 ratio, and factory Traction Lok. It will need the spring perches cut off, and new ones welded on.
Always be careful with four cylinder Rangers and some Fairmont/ Mustang with small engines. They will have brakes way to small to use on a big sedan like a 54 - 55 - 56. |

Re: 1956 ford
Depends on your definition of "not too much trouble"
The only ones I know that bolt right in without modification are the 65-66 Mustang (8 inch) and the 57-58 Fords (9 inch). 59's are the same length, but not sure if the spring mounts are the same. All the rest have different lengths and spring mounts. Granada's are close, but are a little wider and the spring mount location is different The V8 Maverick (don't use the 6 cyl) is a little shorter and as far as I know have different spring mount locations. The other ones mentioned will work, but will require some modification
