Default 54-57 Hotrod mag cover scans.

I know this isn't correct in forum, we are restorers, me included as best as I can. Just cataloging some old magazines from the 50s (54-58) and scanned a few to share for fun

It's interesting...maybe, and I tried to keep to flathead stuff. Lots of great info on engine hopups in these and some fun reading.

This Classic Coupes Hot Rod mag. was in my 40's glove box when I bought it in 1963. I still keep it there for the next owner. Sept. 1959 issue.

Lots of good info in those "old" books. I've been saying for the last 10 years: "Have to get up in the attic."

Nice to see some of the Rod (Custom) magazines survived. I don't have much older than the sixties though I acquired a few used over the years. . Think I bought my first one in 1967. It was the start of a life long obsession with old iron.

Nice to see cover with the photo of Don Francisco. He wrote some very informative articles in HRM back in the day. Even today, I occasionally refer to them.

Man, I had forgotten that Tony Nancy did flatheads in addition to the Buicks he was famous for. DD

When I was a kid, I had to hide my 50s HR, R&C, etc from my parents. They considered those "hot rods to hell" mags only slightly less licentious than Playboy.

I used to have some early 60's Rod and Custom magazines, but came home from the Army to find out my Mother threw them all away along with my 50's and 60's baseball cards.

Tinker, I goofed. It's Rod and Custom Sept, 1959. Don't know why I said Hot Rod.

Yes, and the term "drag strip" had an x rated twang to it for the parents also.
