I broke my truck! Now on VIDEO!
Ok, you might already know the answer, but I pieced together a video to document my recent breakdown. Not me, the pickup. This is just part 1. The repair will be documented also. Subscribe for notification when the next one goes live.
Thanks. Mart. https://youtu.be/t0AfzS5OLYE |

I broke an axle in my model A, but it happened right in front of my house, no towing involved.

You got lucky with that axle Mart. Could have been a disaster for sure. I've got a spare axle in a 38 Deluxe parts car if mine ever breaks.

Mart, Glad you found the problem.
Glad axle didn't 'walk out". Better install some drum retainers. Do yourself a favor and replace those unstable and unsafe 3 legged jack stands with 4 legged stands. I know you've probably been using them for years but, they are an accident waiting to happen. Keep us[posted on your axle replacement process with a video. Thanks. Re: I broke my truck! Now on VIDEO!
Mart....If the axle broke clean at some mid-point on the shaft, what was producing the solid STOP at 8" or 9" when you attempted to pull it all the way out? DD

Re: I broke my truck! Now on VIDEO!
Next instalment will be out tomorrow morning. Lots of questions answered in it. Thanks for all the interest.
Thanks for the concern re the stands. I am ok with them but do take care to ensure the orientation is correct. I have never heard it mentioned before, maybe I ought to do a video to explain what I mean. Mart. |
