From my NH registration Gross weight 4,200 Lbs.

Ford bulletin S2 page 10 shows the weight empty at 2.745 Lbs.

these are for a model 11C commercial car pickup.

I also have another '41 Ford p/u which my title (Washington) for it states 2920 lbs. I bought this one with a Nevada title which doesn't state the GVW,,which is the issue Washington has.
I put a call into licensing to see if they will accept the stated GVW from my Washington titled '41..hopefully they will. I will let you know.
Thanks for the replies.

The DMV called me back and will accept the GVW stated for my other '41 (after I sign a form stating they are identical trucks), so I'm happy with that..crisis averted.
I searched all over the web, in my books, to find the GVW, couldn't find it anywhere.

1940 Pickup 85HP weight 2860lbs from the Ford service manual.
I guess an 85HP V8 41 would be the same.

It's interesting that if you put 2 people in the cab and a full tank of gas you are going to be over weight. If the officials ever decide to weigh the pickup or do a quick calculation when you are out and about you could be in trouble.
Tare or curb weight @ 2745 + (2 pers x 180 Lbs) + (17gals x 6.7 Lbs/gal) = 3219.
Just be careful. I've had it happen with an OT work truck that was registered using the unloaded weight.

Didn't 41 pickups have as an option a 4 cyl and maybe even a 6? If so, there could be weight differences.

gvw is the total of the truck and its cargo=gross vehicle weight. not what the pickup weighs. most likely the state wants this because thats how trucks are taxed for road use, by the gvw

Yes the different engine options for '41 would also present slight variables..that's a can of worms I wish to not disclose to the nice lady at the DMV.
Agreed the GVW comes into play when taxes are priority number one..which is always the case when the state is involved.

gvw is i believe a relatively new term. back in the day they may have said "load capacity" or something else that would change your search

My American Light-Duty Trucks book says......1941 112" chassis GVW is 4300 lbs.

The 3/4T is 5400 lbs and the 1T is 6400 lbs.

Just a side note.

There are places to find weight of a vehicle. If you're friendly with a rock/gravel yard they can do it for free. DMV should suggest a place.

under 2500lbs sound lite to me. Engine alone is in around 600lbs with trans.

.

The 4300 lb weight quoted above seems right to me.
I had my truck weighed and it came in at 2650 lbs.
Half a ton is 1120 lbs.*
So that leaves 530 lbs for driver, passenger and some fuel, tools etc.

Or am I doing the sums wrong?

Mart.

*Damn I just found that Imperial and US tons are different. Still 4300 lbs sounds good to me.
