Power seat parts
Restoring 56 Mercury and looking for info on power seat motor drives, I am missing parts that drive the forward & reverse screw. Thanks

Re: Power seat parts
Sounds like you are just missing the motor. Looks like Mac's has them for Thunderbirds. I would think they might be interchangeable.

Re: Power seat parts
i think I have everything for my power seats on my 55, they have never been hooked up since the restoration was done. I guess they are 6 volt motors, what would it take to make them work on 12 volts?

Re: Power seat parts
A solid state 12 to 6 volt reducer would probably be best. The wire wound ceramic reducers won't heat up enough to reduce the voltage by much in the short time you'd be using the seat motor. That said they'd prolly work just fine on 12v. The seat will just move 2X as fast as normal. My Merc has 6 volt factory power windows and they work well on 12V. Just keep appendages out of the way when closing them. They are the same motor as your seat motor.

Re: Power seat parts
This might be the same or similar gear he is looking for. The transmissions appear to be similar in design. These pictures are of the motor and screwjacks used in m y 53' Merc.

Re: Power seat parts
60481 Is The Drive Assy. The actual gear is (was) available separately.

If you know the part number you can try Green Sales.

Re: Power seat parts
The PN is BN 7060471-A.
I did not see any on a search but the PN may have been superseded. Make sure the diagram(s) matches your power seat type.

Re: Power seat parts
You might be able to buy a whole unit for parts, with a burnt out motor, for less than $50. Just a thought.

You know for 50 bucks, that might be able to be made on a 3D printer, if by chance you have the original gear. Just a thought. Same price but made out of Brass: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Seat-Motor-...cAAOSwi49bIE7M If you have the original gear and know someone in tool and die, it might be another option. Re: Power seat parts
The problem is with text this old is you would need a period OSI (Obsolete-Supersede-Interchange) Catalog to see where the original PN may have been updated. Different publication dates of cataloging may show an updated PN with no explanation of an update.
