A Couple 36 Fordor Questions
In working on my car recently I saw that the horns that have been on my car since I have had it for over 40 years look factory in their installation. The holes are recessed into the firewall with blind nuts on the inside. Was there ever an accessory horn attached on the firewall? If the horns are wrong, would these holes have been used for something else?
Also, while reinstalling the rear shocks I am wondering if I have them on correctly. Should the fill hole be towards the top like I have them? I failed to take a picture of the rear shocks before taking them off. Having a little trouble with the pictures, will try again to post the firewall picture.

Re: A Couple 36 Fordor Questions
Horns are not '36-look like a '50's GM item.'36 horns were not mounted on the firewall.Look and see where the horn grilles are- down in front between the fender and the grille. The horns mounted behind them.Shock looks right but mount inside the frame on a '35-36.
Here is one listed on EBAY and there are also NOS brackets listed. To me the projector looks a little long.Do a search "1936 Ford horn" on EBAY https://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-FORD-O...ry!90807!US!-1 Last edited by deuce lover; 09-30-2019 at 01:55 AM. |

Re: A Couple 36 Fordor Questions
There was available, aftermarket accessory horns that mounted on the firewall, but as duece stated, original horns were mounted in behind the screens in front fenders.

Re: A Couple 36 Fordor Questions
This is the accessory 36 horn. The shock fill plugs are up and the rear shock body is inside the frame with the arm on the outside.

Here is an image of an original 36 factory horn as well as images of a 36 rear shock mounted inside the frame as others have described.

Re: A Couple 36 Fordor Questions
Well, I'm very frustrated that I can't upload another picture to show the firewall. The car is a Deluxe Fordor but doesn't have any horns where they should be. I agree the horns look much newer. Must have just been installed by someone who knew what they were doing.
Thank for the input on the shock locations. I completely forgot which side of the rails they went on. I'm sure I would have really scratched my head when it came time to hook up the linkage.
