49 gas tank filler neck, foreign object?
Removed the gas tank for cleaning, pulled this out of the filler neck...I dont see anything like this in any schematics, is this a functional piece anybody ever seen, or a foreign object that some kid put down there 50 years ago?

My guess is it was put there to prevent siphon theft.

The tube is for wenting when filling up the tank...and the other part as stated to keep your gas safe from thiefs.

Figured it might be something like that, thanks folks. Could it be a Ford part, or more likely aftermarket?
