Default Compression

A few years ago, I installed a Brumfield H.C. Cylinder head. I never had the occasion to check the cylinders compression until yesterday. To my surprise, I measured 108 to 110 lbs. on all four cylinders. I performed the test twice with a quality gauge with the same results. I had a hard time keeping the gauge seated in the plug hole. No wonder this Model A Roadster is so peppy. Thanks L. Brumfield.

What bore is your engine? I have a police head on mine with .060 overbore, compression 100# right across. Walt

Mine has a .100 overbore and a 7:1 Winfield head. The compression when I checked yesterday was 120 psi across the board. Pulls the 4 speed with the middle OD ratio with no problems. Just have to retard it a couple of degrees when climbing hills.
