Default Dag nab it! Lost dr lock cyl from 36 cabriolet

Shucks! I drove my cabriolet to York, PA for the NSRA Nats East and the car was well received and I really enjoyed driving it up there and back.
On the way home, somehow I managed to lose the door lock cylinder from the door lock. I was disappointed to say the least. Of course, I had gone to great pains to make sure I had a working lock cylinder and had a key made, etc. Apparently the fellow that put the lock cylinder back in the door did not know as much about it as he thought! You are getting ahead of the story if you have already figured out it was me! The set screw is still in the door but I obviously screwed up somewhere.
Where would be a good place to hunt for another lock cylinder, preferably with a key already? Will a lock cyl from something else, say a 1940 Ford pickup!, work? I've got plenty of spare 40 pkp door but no 36s.
All help and insight is greatly appreciated. It is OK to laugh at my error if you don't laugh too hard!
All the best,
Al
PS While there I ran across a 32 Ford steel 3 window coupe that I couldn't resist. My birthday was the following Sunday and since it was already Friday; I figured my wife would appreciate my help!

Try Leon Rowell, Montezuma, Iowa.
641-623 1957 for your lock problems,

Al, many of those door locks on 35-36 are the same, except for the length of the square rod that is attached to the back of the cylinder. The length of the rod is dependent on door thickness on the different body styles. This is shown and explained in the 1935-36 Ford Book by the EFV-8C/A. The one you need measures 2-5/8" from the locating flange on the cylinder to the tip of the square bar and is used on the Cabriolet, Tudor Sedan and 3W Coupe. If you can find one of these cylinders (with or without key) one of the three FB locksmiths who are members here could re-key this cylinder to be the same as your ignition key.

I knew you boys had the answers!! Thanks for the help. Hopefully I can get my lock back in working order.
As to the 3 window, it is not exactly like the gasser I bought awhile back and later let go because the logistics of getting it and the white 40 pickup flat tow vehicle to the same place was more than I wanted to continue to do... it was killing me! Also, the dang paint was blowing off the gasser and the pickup to some degree and I hated to see that, too.
Anyway, the new 3w is not exactly stock. I'll show some pics and will share the details if you just want to know but I got to admit up front that it doesn't still have a flathead!

BTW, I have to tell the rest of the story about when I called my wife to tell her I was going to save her the trouble of seeking a gift for me.
When I called her, I said I was going to buy another car. She asked if it was the same one I said I might buy before I left home. I told her, "No. It is another one." She said, "Whatever you think." Yep, she's been a keeper for over 50 years and we've been married 46 years in August.
Thanks again for the help,
Al

I've ordered new wheels but here is a side shot with the Boyds Directional wheels that came on it. Also a rear shot of the narrowed Corvette rearend.

If you find a replacement you don't "need" a key. The numbers to cut a key are on the lock.

Have fun! Looks like you have that covered

Thanks again for the kind words.
The rubber boards arrived today and I got as far as getting the passenger side mostly installed. Looks like they are going to work well. Here is an in-process picture... please, no cat calls about all the tools laying around! I was trying everything to make sure I did not scratch the paint!
Dave/Green Bay couldn't decide which lock cyl was best so said he was sending all three!! I'm hoping I can find somebody up that way that will get Dave a cup of coffee for me... that will be a long ride to repay him for his generous efforts to help.

Al, I can buy Dave a cup of coffee for you if I can find him at the Iola, Wisconsin swap meet next Friday. Then you can give me a ride in your '32 coupe next June at York, Pa

GREAT!! Have a great trip. I hear coffee out there is still a quarter... I'll get one in the mail to you! Oh, alright, I'll send two quarters.

Seriously, if you do find him, please shake his hand for me.

I still say that Ford fellows are the finest.

Thanks,
Al
