Default best guesstimate needed on used part-

I have a nice front radius rod to sell and don't know what a fair asking price might be...

it is the 4th type listed in Judging Standards (late '28-early '30)
very straight with little or no wear on the ball.

Start at $5,000. You can always come down.

I’ve had a very good one with a perfect ball for sale for four years at $40 and no interest whatsoever.

With no active market the price is decimated. No buyers means reduction in price.

I think it is indicative of the increasing average age of the people in the hobby. Also, new people are coming in who seem not so much interested in restoration as just directly and simply getting in the car and driving it. Look at the comments here. How many say, in one way or another, "never owned an A before. Or This is my first Model A. Or I inherited this and don’t know anything about Model A’s." A 90+ year old car takes a commitment to understanding how to keep it functional for the next 90 years.

What you say is very true. In years gone by I witnessed sellers at Hershey empty their table at the end of the day into trash cans. Vultures stood by waiting and literally went head first into trash buckets!

in the past i've sold them anywhere from $100-$150 depending on how round the ball was on the end.

Wouldn't the shipping be the deterrent and not the cost of large parts? I've seen good prices for large parts that I would like but shipping those or the lack of the seller shipping local pickup only! I did drive 6 hours one way to buy a new in the box Mitchell trans and overdrive, I called the seller every couple of hours telling him where I was he did wait patiently!

Been a vulture standing or was close to the trash bin! Sold most of what others considered trash, so it was found money.

Biggest drawback now days, cost of shipping.

I hate to see parts go to scrap Someone in the future will want them and cuss the person who discarded them. Maybe tomorrow, maybe 100 years from now. I don't have a good solution for storing them. Perhaps donating to a museum. I have a friend that collects Model A stuff. He has a barn full of cars and parts. When he dies all that will be distributed to other collectors and many of the cars, all of them original and complete, will be restored to drive again.

Old uneeded parts always cost me money to get rid of but I had fun doing it and met a bunch of neat people along the way.
I gave them away with the stipulation they had to come get them.
The deal usually cost me a cup of coffee or a beer.
