What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
I keep hearing that there are no good tubes for Model A tires being made today? Why? We have so many good dealers in the reproduction business like Bratton and Snyder. We also have good tire makers like Coker dedicated to the hobby and no one is interested in making decent tubes? I don't get it. It seems that whenever there was something really missing and needed in the past someone took the challenge....

It is just SO much cheaper to order them from China, than to set up shop to make them yourself. MIKE |

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
We know that they can be made cheaply somewhere else but if they are no good what does it matter that they are cheap?

So Leo, now is your chance to start a needed business. I'll buy some if they are a good product.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
I guess the next time I change tires I'll reuse the old tubes that have been fine for several years.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
I thought motorcycle tubes would be a good option but It sounds like they have the same problems.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
One solution is to run tubeless with one of the Coker radials. The look like stock tires. I had to gather up lots of courage to try.

I bought some from Snyders and they have been just fine. Didn't look where they were made.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
The tubes from Bert's are great. Thick and sturdy, inexpensive. So I'm not sure what the issue is.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
I think the issue with the US manufactured tubes has been that the valves stick/leak when new. During install I removed the schrader valves and exercised them extensively, then re-installed. No problems.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
I had 7 new tubes from Coker distributor fail on a round the country tour. I replaced them with Snyder and Bratton tubes along the way and they are still on the car 4 years later. I think they were from China.
I made a point of stopping at Coker and he wouldn't even shake my hand or discuss my problem. The tubes were made in Denmark. Richard Anaheim CA |

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
If you do make them, make them red with metal stems for old times sake. Some people would pay extra for that.

Re: What's All This Nonsense About Tubes?
That is for sure. Lost a good friend a couple of years ago from a blown tube on a motorcycle. Her and her husband were on their honeymoon. I knew both very well working with them for about 12 years. Her husband is now permanately dissabled. Rod
