Default Recommended Suppliers for '30-'31 PU Carbon Steel Cowl Band?

I'm hoping someone can recommend a supplier for used original parts. I've tried Bert's, but they don't have it.

Carbon steel (magnetic) cowl band for a late 1930 PU.

For my purposes, a painted stainless band will not work.

Thanks for your help!

I have never seen one reproduced. What you are looking for will have rusted away by now. Maybe that is too harsh, but so likely to rust and kink if removed from cowl. Best of luck to you. Fortunately, I was able to paint a stainless one for my CCPU.

Great, thank you!

I hope to find an original somewhere. If I fail, I can then use that repop as my back-up plan.

I've been looking for about 16 months now to find original carbon steel parts, and still no cowl band yet And I thought it was tough finding a Good radiator shell and headlights!

My late 31, steeltop w/widebed came to me with all stainless. I've found the non-stainless shroud and headlights but the cowl band is a rare bird.

I have a '31 RDPU so am curious. Why wouldn't a painted stainless band work? Are you worried about concourse judges using a magnet or is there is something else I should know about?

Not at all Charlie, quite the opposite in fact.

My (mostly) original pickup was changed to stainless parts sometime in the past. The parts being: the radiator shell, the headlight buckets, and the cowl band.

I'm putting carbon steel parts back on the truck and they will need to match the existing patina...so some paint will be missing.

I am glad I asked. That makes sense. I assume your tail light buckets will also be black?

The tail light bucket is the original carbon steel and it's lost all of it's paint. I believe its original to this truck. I'll have to give some thought on what, if anything, I will do about the finish.

I've seen a pickup that had some new parts installed and painted to look like original parts with some light rust and paint loss, so it can be done to stainless also. I saw the pickup in person, and I was totally fooled thinking every part was original, until the owner told me about how it was painted to look that way.

Hi Gents,
Were cowl bands original on Model As as well as Pickups?

But if you can get plain steel, why use stainless?

Yes, for '30-'31. Light pickups are Model A's too.

TKS 1930,
I have a 28 RPU, which I bought with too much chrome, but no cowl band. Chrome head lights, chrome radiator surround, dual chrome tail lights as well as rear bumpers. Not correct but I dont really mind, but was wondering about the cowl bands.
Much appreciated

Just as a follow-up...

I just bought a band from Ahooga. Thanks for the connection 1930pu
Looks good in the box, so far. LOL

It was shipped in a large but thin pizza box, and it survived the shipping process without damage.

I'll post photos of it after its mounted on my truck.

A message to FLOATS who posted above. Your 1928 RPU did not have a cowl band. They were NOT used on any truck model, Tudor, Coupe. They were used in 1928-29 on Fordor, Town Sedan and Cabriolet. I did not research rare body types like Taxi or Town Car.

I found two of steal bands at Hershey in 2015. BJ's had a nos one. They may still have it.
A Gentlemen at RSB 1-5 usually has one.
