Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
I've got Red's Headers for my B Block, an A/B Kit, and I'm running a Weber carburetor. I can't seem to find a wrench that I own, or don't own, to get the inside 11/16 nuts manifolds to block tight. The outer two I can tighten with a 11/16 socket.
Any experienced members out there that can suggest a wrench or tool that will fit to tighten the two inner nuts? Thanks! 20141211_220048.JPG |

Re: Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
I have a couple of 'flex' extensions with a ball-like end that allows a 15deg misalignment. Looks like it would get around that inner header tube.

Re: Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
Replace them with Allen head bolts so that you can use an "L" wrench to tighten them. Don't worry about trying to achieve published recommended torque values with a torque wrench. Just snug the bolts down a couple times until the gaskets compress completely.

Starter wrench, combination wrench bend to fit. Thats the fun part of being a mechanic! finding a way to tighten fasteners :-) or remove!

Re: Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
I agree with Big hammer.
I stop at pawn stores and purchase cheap wrenches of varying sizes and then heat them up and bend them as needed for particular needs. I keep a box of the pawn finds in my shop ready for modification. I don't think I have more than $40 invested in a pile of them. It's a cheap alternative to expensive specialty tools. Good Day |

Re: Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
I used bolts made for headers. The hex head is 7/16 then it is full size under the hex to fit the header.

Re: Challenge Tightening Red's Headers
Try using a flanged nut with a smaller wrench size. Similar to header bolts as George mentioned (i think ).

Bench grinder and hot wrench modification.
