Default V8 era front hubs on a 1931 Victoria

Hello. I recently purchased a 1931 Victoria and removed the 19" spoke wheels to repack on the front wheel bearings. To my surprise, the front hubs are a later V8 style (circa 1935) hub. I am not experiencing any driving or braking issues, but my question is whether or not this type of setup is okay for a Model A in the long term. The car only has about 100 miles on it (supposedly).

Do you think this hub was put on so that the prior owner could use the 16" wheels? The hubs appear to be in fine condition, but are they safe to use on a Model A?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I assume you are looking at cast drums with holes. Measure their diameter. If they are 11 inch they are the late '31 hubs that are probably correct for the car. If they are 12 inch they are later and there have been several modifications to the brakes. The later 16 inch wire wheels fit fine on the Model A hubs/drums.

I have the 32 or later hub and drum combined on my coupe. that gives me 12 inch brakes on the front and 11 inch on the rear. Never had a problem with it yet, though when it comes time for new shoes an turning the cas drums I will be in trouble. The backs will be fine, but I'm not sure about the fronts, probably have to go to Model A hubs and backing plates.

35 front brakes a common swap. I've seen it before.
