Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
As for the "Red" Ford ovals I think (and so far) this is the only one known at this point but not 1932 or as relevant for this post.

David - the variations on English sidelights for one (short) year was incredible. The picture shows the variation on those that I have (and there likely are others). The first is a 'standard' passenger car one with stainless bowl and rim and glass that broadly matches the UK headlight, the second has a chromed steel bowl and rim, the third a commercial painted steel bowl and rim with a tight ribbed curved glass, the next same but with wide ribbed flat glass, the next a steel painted bowl with a stainless rim and finally a steel painted bowl and rim with a 'passenger type' glass. For interest have also included a picture of a Model A one against the '32 to show the size difference, the A being the larger. |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Keith,
Thanks for the further elaboration on the '32 sidelights and their variations. To the best of my knowledge, the North American commercial/truck cowl lamps came in only one version which was with a plain steel black-painted body, black-painted die cast brackets, and everything else common with the passenger car version (which was also the version used on deluxe panel deliveries and late station wagons as standard equipment). |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Your pic of the door wood may be a 36, but the Aussie 32 doors were very similar. A local 32 restorer had an imported Australian roadster body that had most of the original wood still in it. It was soft/cracked, so he replicated US stamped steel panels as a replacement.
(Don't tell anybody, but he got tired of doing 100% restos and turned that body into an Ardun fired hiboy hot rod) |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Sheldon My head hurts from reading this post. You know to much about these 32's. Good to see you are still at it. Ever in Texas come by. Bruce

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
As rockfla pointed out, the door (top photo) is off an open 1935/1936 Ford. He also correctly pointed out that the Roadster/Phaeton doors wee longer than the Roadster Ute. Please see pictures above showing the difference in length. |

Thought I'd bring this thread to the top as its interesting to the '32 purist.I don't have the knowledge as some others but have the passion for the 32 and its parts. Living in France and attending many swap meets here I have turned up some Euro deuce stuff. Here is a '32 French fuel gauge. It has the "P" (for plein)instead of "F" for full.Found a mint 32 speedo a few months ago.Couple yrs ago turned up a near mint 32 commercial rad cap.Not much left but stuff still out there if you dig deeper.Another dig find, '32 Imperial Gals gas gauge.Bezel is nickel plated instead of chrome as most I have seen.My research came up with that the British Empire used Imp Gals as a unit of measure. So maybe Canada,Australia,So Africa or India ? Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Keith
Here is the cowl lights on our Cab. and they are "different" from the ones you posted both the base and the shape of the housing. They are more "pointed" on the rear and do not follow the shape of the headlight buckets. The base is also "different" than standard 32 even in the hole size and alignment pin!!! I'll have to get you better pictures of the back sides |

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Hi all; Gotta jump in here.. I sold my single pull latches when I found these: The two on the left with the odd bases are WW2 GM truck hood latches- over 500K trucks mfg'd with 2 latches each! The three on the right are WW2 Dodge trucks [WC Series]- using windshield hold-down latches- Seemingly identical to the '32 Ford without chrome! And for reference the bottom two are tired '32s . So, apparently the tooling was around Detroit for some time. Newc

Re: Rare Deuce parts thread
Looking closely at those three on the upper right, their handles seem more depressed across the top than the version Ford used. It is actually a slight improvement as it permits your thumb to get a good purchase on the top of the handle to counter the tendency of the rest of your hand to tilt the latch forward as you lift up. That's why the later '32 T handle version is such a big improvement over the single pull version as all of your lifting force is directed upward and out rather than part way up and part way in, especially if the internal spring is in good shape. On a '32 hood side panel, the single pull latch is actually a pretty dumb idea. I have four NOS ones on one of my cars and they are a nightmare to use. I use a loop of cord around them so I can direct all of my pull upward. Or maybe I'm just getting old and weak.
