Which Lubriplate oil do you use??
SPO277 [140 wgt]
SPO288 [250 wgt]
SPO299 [600W]
What you think of the results??

A few years ago we tried all three weights in the Model A Times. We found the SPO288 worked well in the sedan, has about 15000 miles on a transmission that is all repro parts. Shifted very nice with that weight. In colder climates you might want the SPO277 and in warmer areas the SPO299 might be the choice.

What about multi-viscosity lubes?
I find my tranny a bit cranky at first, nice within a mile or so, and grinding after twenty miles or so on a hot day.
Might a multi-viscosity correct that condition?

What viscosity is, say, Bratton's 600W fluid?

Locally the SPO299 in 14.38 a quart! Model A vendors sell there stuff for about 8.00.

What makes Lubriplate worth 6.00 more?

What concerns me is what the Model A vendors sell.. It appears that most sell a concoction of 140 wgt and STP.. Folks that read my posts know what I think about STP.. I have recently tried some of the vendors 600W and drained it fairly quickly and went back to straight 140.. I'm quite happy with regular 140 wgt but willing to try something heavier to see if I like it.. I'm still trying to find out the difference between the 250 wgt and the 600W they[Lubriplate] supply/make as well as finding a local supplier..
