'32 3W window glass and door seal question

I have a '32 3W coupe. I have made glass templates out of 1/4" masonite (luan), and have installed them in the car with the window channels, glass channel, rubber setting channel and window regulator. I made the glass template so its bottom edge is 1-1/2" below the window opening.

I have attached a picture showing my question. The glass sits in the metal and rubber channel with the rubber lip towards the outside of the car. When the glass is all the way up, the rubber lip is well below the body structure.

On original Ford cars, is the rubber lip supposed to push up against the body structure to create a seal? If not, did Henry install some other kind of weather strip to create a seal?

I have a follow-up question. The garnish molding -- as I think of it -- is on the inside of the car. Is there some kind of "garnish" or trim molding on the outside of the car on the bottom edge of the window opening? I'm having a hard time visualizing your suggestions. Does anyone have a picture?

Garnish molding is on the inside, it is the trim around the windows on the inside. I have never seen a car with garnish molding on the outside, it may exist, but I have never seen it.

So much for that senior moment. I will attempt to delete what I wrote above. It is incorrect as JSeery has tactfully implied. The part about your glass likely being too tall is correct, but the seal does not nest against the garnish moulding as that is on the inside of the glass, not on the outside of the glass as I wrote. The rubber lip should nest against the inner door panel (body structure). Sorry for the confusion.

On some cars like a 34 if the glass is to tall the two arms cannot come together to fit into the track at the top

I was just having this conversation with my wife tonight. Hopefully forums like this will be maintained in the future and add to our human knowledge. But that only works if we pass along the love of these old machines to our grandkids and other young people so there is future demand for the knowledge.

I recently completed a website that shows all car magazines from 1945 to 1975. 3,500 images. I'm already thinking about where all this information goes at my death.

Don3527 -- Are you asking for pics of the rubber bumpers that go on the garnish moldings? If so, I chose not to install them as I didn't seem to need them. Richard

If you don't install them there is a chance that the glass will rattle, especially when the window is down and the rubber lip in the glass channel will not be preventing side-to-side movement.

There are 12 of these small bumpers in the window channel kit, 6 have a rounded top and 6 have a tapered top. I'm told half go on the door and the other ones go on the garnish. I can't see the glass hitting the garnish as the felt channels seem to prevent that from happening. However, if they're supposed to be there, I'd like to install them. I'm assuming there's supposed to be about a 1" long slot for them to install but I have no idea where these slots should be cut in.

I don't have a photo of the back side of the molding to show the slots, but I've attached a couple of photos where the bumpers appear to give you a general idea of their location. My recollection, confirmed by the photos, is that there are three per door molding spaced equally.
