Default 31A S/W 4D TS Restoration

Two questions this time around.

The "new" body I got came with most of the roof wood.
Question 1. What size wood screws do I use to install the wood with?

It appears that in the front, there are two parts that come together in the roof area.
Question 2. What size fasteners should be used to hold these two pieces together?

Hello,

There were several different screw types for that wood. The pieces around the edge were mostly held in place by 1/4-20 carriage bolts that went through both the inner and outer pieces of wood and the metal lip between them.

For my car, I was fortunate to have the original wood in place, so I know exactly where each screw went.

I took many photos of the wood to guide me. You might find them useful:

Here is a starting point for browsing the relevant ones:

This is my first stab at securing the wood in the top of the body.
this is looking up for the passenger side.
Question, is the length of the bolt too long?
Is is OK as IS?

Thanks!!!

I don't think that excessive length would matter there. It's not going to interfere with the top pad and material, or the headliner. But I would suggest buggering up the threads with a punch or some other means, as I always worry that bolting wood parts together would cause nuts to back off over time.

I would also add that it is really important to carefully assess and smooth out any high (or low) spots where the wood pieces all come together. You want a really even surface on which to lay the top materials on... the padding won't really compensate for and hide anything that's uneven. The lumps will frustrate you after everything's nailed down.
