Default '48 Ford Tudor speaker grill removal

I own a mostly stock '48 Tudor sedan. I am trying to reconnect the windshield wiper motor switch and vacuum line to the stock wiper motor. I have already removed the original radio (which still works), but still can't get to the top of the wiper motor to install the switch and make the connection. I think I want to go through the dash through the speaker grill and speaker to do this, but I can't figure out how the speaker grill comes off.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. WildBill1942

WildBill, I did mine on the '47 by taking out the original radio and connecting everything up under the dash.....standing on my head. Like you, I thought about removing the speaker grill but figured that would only create more problems for me getting it back in properly....assuming I didn't break the old plastic.

In a word, it was a bitch of a project, but I prevailed and the wiper motor and the switch both work....halleluiah!!

WB42, the speaker grille is attached from the back with several mounting screws. A couple suggestions :

Remove the seat - yeah, I know, it's a pain - it will actually speed everything along.
Good lighting really helps.
Use a small mirror to scope the task.
Recruiting a spry young'un is always a good plan.

I removed the grill screws just sitting on the seat and using a stubby screw driver all by feel
The car never had a radio so that was out of the way. With out the grill everything now
is wide open for repair and replace the vacc. hoses while in there also lube the wiper
motor.
