Default original brake rods

I would like to use my original brake rods that are bowed. How can I straighten them out? I don't think I should use heat because that may weaken the rod or am I wrong in that thinking? Looking for advice.

they bend like soda straws - grab an end and use your arms and gut to debow them. The rods work only in the stretching direction. As long as the eye isnt wallowed out or the threads too boogered bend em by hand and use em.

If youve got a sharp kink roll them on a steel table or concrete floor and whack the high side of the kink with a hammer. Got mine petty much perfect doing a combination of things. Just be aware of the upset (dont whack the rod too close to it or it will be bent lol)

If the threaded portion is kinked screw on an old worn out fish eye and whack that lightly till its unkinked. if no spare fisheyes thread a buncha nuts on it and do the same. Idea is not to damage the threads or squash em. be sure to put on and use a jam nut against the fish when you go to put em on the car.
