Default 1939 Transmission Cover

Can anyone tell me the difference (or show me) between a '39 standard and a '39 deluxe floorboard transmission cover. Near as I can tell the '39 deluxe is made of that rare metal, Unobtanium.

The '39 transmission covers are identical standard vs. deluxe.

Many folks believe you can take a '40 cover and simply cut a hole in for the floor shifter and "poof" good to go in the '39. Patently not true...

Okay, the catalogs all list it by it's self, not that it matters because the only one you can get is for a '40 and it is different. Looks like I will have to cut the top off of mine and weld it on a new one and cut a shifter hole. Thanks for the picture. If mine wasn't rusted away from the shifter hole back, it would look like that.

I took one off a 39 STD and it fit my 39 DLX ok. What I can tell you is the 38 is different and 40 is different (as Kube noted). If you think about it the 38, 39, and 40 floors and firewalls are actually all different. I wound up taking two and making one. Unfortunately, with exception of the 40 unit, they all look alike on the computer and at the shows. Suggest measuring O/A length and spacing of attaching holes at firewall "lip"...

39's are about 1 inch wider along the top and have that semi-circular cut-out on the left side.
