Water in my "pancake" dist. cap

Is there a way to make this distributor more water tight? Filling the radiator and had overflow and wet the distrib. Obviously the car spitted and sputtered due to moisture in the cap. Concern I have is the car will be transported in an open trailer to the TROG event in Wildwood, NJ sans hood. Any quick fixes or suggestions appreciated.
