Would be interested in advice as to painting the Model A Front fender in one’s home garage?
1. how do you manage positioning the front fender during the spraying process? special rigs, etc.. Pictures would be helpful.

2. do you (a) spray both sides at one time or (b) one side, let dry, paint other side another day?

any/all tip appreciated!

I found spraying twice made life much easier.Paint the bottom,and paint the top the next day.That way you won't have the fender propped up with jigs,sticks,wires,clamps,etc.You won't be standing on your head trying to get the backsides of the beads from underneath.You can just put all your energy into concentrating on making the top finish look right.Little more time,lots less work.

I hung mine from a rack I built out of a couple of 4x4 posts with a 2x4 going between them. I just used a wire to tie them to the 2x4. By handing them from a wire, you can turn them anyway you want to get everything you wanted to paint. Then I moved the rack out of my shop and did it outside. Let them hang till dry. I did paint one side at a time.
Granted I was building a driver so one that wants to have them perfect may not use my method.

When I painted mine, I hung them from the rafters using wire. Do the underside first, next day the top side.

I hang them from the rack so that the outside bead faces up. I spray the entire fender inside and out at one shooting.

I just painted some T fenders today. I painted the underside a month ago with some tough implement black and today the tops with catalyzed enamel. rustoleum or such on the underside won't chip as easily from gravel.

Built this rig couple years ago. Tilts to get to either side. It is made from the front section of a defunct Model A frame and some support scrap/leftovers . kp
