Default 40 fordor Deluxe Package tray

ordered a interior kit from Cartouche, but having trouble with how the rear package tray goes. It is just a piece of pre cut fiberboard wrapped with cloth, so is there a piece of wood that it is supposed to sit on? i see where there are 2 previous nail holes in the metal frame but it seems to flimsy to just screw down because it wouldn't be flat and sturdy. I will try to upload pics this weekend.

That cardboard just sits on the metal shelf. Usually the front flap hangs down and is glued behind the back cushion.

Bob Drake's catalog used to have a pretty comprehensive picture of what you need.
The package tray itself is made from plywood ( at least that was the case in 1939 )
There were wooden supports beneath it and extending to the floor.
Uh-Oh -Just re-read your post and see you have a fordor.
Sorry about that.
TJ is correct.

The package tray tucks under the rear window molding and in the front is retained by the rear seat back rest; with possibly a couple of nails holding it down to the sheet metal. The originals were not flat and getting this thing in was probably the hardest part of installing the interior in mine. The problem with Mac's package tray is that it has to be formed to fit the curve up at the back and over the hump in the middle of the sheet metal. I had mine in position in the back of the car for months with weights on it in hopes of getting it to form to the shape needed. That worked, sort of; but I'm still not happy with the fit. If I decide to redo it I'll probably strip the fabric off the top then lightly score the back side where the bends need to be made, wet it down and attempt to get it to fit better.

Thank you Hal i will try to figure something out. It seems when the tray is far back as it can go the front hangs close to an inch or less past the rear seat brackets. i just wanted to know if there was a better way to install it since the back sides leave a gap on each side.

Which is what mine did... you have to get the bends in it or it won't fit correctly. Kind of a pain in the a** to make it work.
