Default 53 Ranchwagon Radiator

Had my radiator recored. Are the brackets on correctly? The fan is very close to the radiator. I think if the brackets were switched it would give me more room..Help..Thanks

The radiator in my '54 Ranch Wagon appears to be mounted the same way. HRP

Great..Thanks..I know the brackets were marked when removed, but it has been a long time. I guess I need to adjust my flatty some to give me a little more room. Thanks again.

I have the stock radiator out of my '54 Ranch Wagon on the floor in my shop. I can take some measurements and photos of that would help. Just have to go and do it. Let me know.

That would be great if it's not too much of a hassle. Appreciate it. Thanks
I think mine is correct, but the fan is just too close.

On my '53 Ranchwagon (also recored), the brackets look to be about 7/8" in front of the core. The back side of the core is about 1" from the fan. I took several cell photos and I'm happy to share, but I've never figured out how to post pictures. If you want photos, PM me and I'll send somehow.

Photos attached. The side bracket is not the same distance from the core at the top and bottom. It goes from 3 1/4 at the top of the bracket to 2 1/4 at the bottom.

Close is not a bad thing. 1/2" to 1" is ideal, I think, for pulling air through the radiator. Any further away, parasite air gets sucked in from around the perimeter of the fan rather than pulled through the radiator fins.

Thanks for the pictures. Mine are on correctly. I will just have to loosen the mounts, and maneuver the engine a little bit. I know the holes in the frame had some adjustment to them. I am almost there. Thanks again.

The radiator in post 8 appears to be for a 6-cylinder and they may be different from a V8 radiator.

Also, unless you know for sure, assuming a '54 ("Y"-block) radiator set up is the same as a '53 (flathead) puts you on shaky ground.

Nope. Had a 239 Y-Block that I removed. It could be that '54 radiators are different than '53 but this is definitely from a '54 Ranch Wagon with a

239 Y-Block.
