What the...Nokia tyres ???
I really like the price of these 5.50x19 bias ply but does anyone know anything about Lucas Nokia or read any reviews? And made where?
"These beautiful European style tires are made in the original Nokia molds and have been popular with vintage car enthuiasts all over the world."

Re: What the...Nokia tyres ???
Good afternoon...I have Lucas tires on our 1931 Tudor and have had for about four years. They run well and seem to wear well. Great value for $99.00 each. Ernie in Arizona

Re: What the...Nokia tyres ???
Nokian Tyres Oyj, headquartered in Nokia, Finland, produces tyres for cars, trucks, buses, and heavy-duty equipment. Known for its winter tyres, Nokian operates the only permanent winter tyre testing facility in the world. The company's Hakkapeliitta brand name is recognised in Finland as a reputable trademark.

Re: What the...Nokia tyres ???
Hakkapeliitta is commonly specified for Prius as a winter tire.

For the price they are a good nylon economy tyre. Nearest rival in the 5.50-19 size is the $204 BF Goodrich Silvertown which are poly (not nylon) and USA made. Nobody seems to be using these yet...so the jury still out if they are any good or not.

If these are made by someone other than Coker, it might bring down the price we all have to pay for tyres. It seems Coker have bought up pretty much all of the manufacturers of classic and vintage tyres so we end up with a monopoly. PS. That wouldn't be allowed in this country for obvious reasons.

Re: What the...Nokia tyres ???
Yes, they are made in Vietnam. They are nylon as mentioned, not polyester, and will have flat spots from sitting for a long time. The flat spots disappear after a couple of miles of driving and heat-up. We run them with radial tubes.
Just did a check and my Lucas tires are labeled 475-500x19 with the Olympic profile, different than the post 1 photo which is a Lucas offering in the Nokia profile Last edited by duke36; 05-22-2019 at 10:00 AM. Reason: FURTHER INSPECTION |

Probably the same amount of rubber trees in Finland as in the USA.
