Fastest car from 1894 to 1914
Aloha,
Different topic, but very interesting, also list the registered cars from 1900 to 1926. Amazing. Have a look. https://newatlas.com/worlds-fastest-...46196/#gallery |

Re: Fastest car from 1894 to 1914
It is odd reading this and seeing Alaska and Hawaii listed as countries and not states... Good Stuff.

Re: Fastest car from 1894 to 1914
Very cool!! I’ve always wanted to start a vintage racing league with all pre war cars and actually race them with only original speed parts. Actually race not just time trials.

Re: Fastest car from 1894 to 1914
Locomobile's Old 16 was the first American built car to win an international competition. It won the 1908 Vanderbilt cup races against the favorites such as Mercedes, etc. Spent a good portion of the race at speeds in excess of 100MPH.

Re: Fastest car from 1894 to 1914
I think this video, made by The Henry Ford after acquiring Old 16 clearly demonstrates how fast Old 16 had to be in order to be competitive nearly 110 years ago....
https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/s...8&action=click PS-In the newer black and white footage that is part of this video, that goggled-wearing driver of Old 16 looks suspiciously like a certain Ford Barner!!! |
