Default '30-'31 Roadster Pickup Windshield Stanchions

I am starting the restoration of a '31 RPU, and the stanchions that came in a box of parts are chrome with windwing bracket holes. If I am not mistaken, mine are to be black and not have the wings. I am also assuming they will be standard roadster length and not shorter deluxe roadster size. My questions are, will the tapped wind wing bracket holes still be there, or are they missing? Will the large thumb wingnuts to tilt the windshield out be chrome, or also black? How about the finger pulls on the inside? Thanks experts.

If there are only 3 snap holes, the top one in the top pivot then it is a deluxe. If it has 4 snap holes with the top pivot in between the top two holes, then it is a standard. I thikl all 30-31s were stainless. All 28-29s are black for all open cars, there was no deluxe

30 31's were all stainless. The truck came with the taller standard ones.

I always count the snaps on the front,if you see two it is a deluxe,if you see three it is a standard.I don't think I've ever thought about that hole in the stanchion above the pivots.I have two standards,I will have to go look and see if they have snap holes in them up there or not.The open truck did have painted steel stanchions, but good luck finding them.I was going to abrade and paint a set of stainless for mine, but figured I would just use them temporarily as they were.10-12 years later they are still shiny stainless.

I had a pair of steel painted standard stanchions on my 31 roadster. There are no wing window or mirror holes. I was told these came from a 31 roadster pickup.

That's what you have. Those are hard to come by not all rusted out.I looked for some of those for years, but I kind of gave up when the few I found had telephone numbers for prices.Besides that, the truck has a stainless radiator shell, stainless cowl band, and two stainless tailights,so it is already a circus wagon. The stainless stanchions won't matter much.Besides that, the wind wings do make a huge difference driving.Without the hornets and bees kind of funnel right in and down the back of your neck. With the wings they are tossed off to the sides.

Circus wagon...................I haven't heard that term in years. Love it.
