Jack Rabbit
Hello all! I’m getting interested in purchasing My first Model T.
We have two model A’s but would like a T as well. I’m looking at a ‘27 Pickup. Seller states it has Kevlar Bands and the Jack Rabbit Clutch. Seeing mixed opinions on these. I’m a total novice when it comes to model T Any input would be appreciated!!! |

Re: Jack Rabbit
There is nothing wrong with Kevlar bands. They should give good service. The jack rabbit clutch will serve until it doesn't just like most clutches. There are Kevlar lined T400 clutch plates now that may be good but I don't know if they will last longer than others. I've heard tell that they do. Most complaints with the jack rabbit clutches are the hub set up. If it's already in there then use it. The shifts from low to high can get some slippage on any clutch so a person has to develop a procedure that keeps slippage to a minimum and it will likely do OK. Don't worry about changing it till it gives trouble. If you feel slippage then back off and remedy the cause before it burns up.

Re: Jack Rabbit
I haven't the jackrabbit in mine, however, perhaps because I drive too fast, always, when I shift, it's gas off, shift, gas on , to avoid slip.
