Default Woodies on the Wharf photos

today was the annual Woodies on the Wharf show in Santa Cruz, Ca. There were around 200 cars, all woodies, from 1929 through 1953 for American cars ( '68 for British Morris). They vary from originals to hot rods. Below are some photos of the Model A's and a really nice Model B.

overview

notice the 29, 30 and 31 in the distance:

Thanks for the pictures. A friend who lives out there and has 3 woodies tells me about this meet every year. [no pictures ,just tells me about it. ] No "T"s ??? ..you are right the 1932 is super. The 33 / 34 is my favorite Ford woodie. A few years back i was looking at a 1931 "A" coupe in the guys front yard and he had under wrap in the back yard the last Pontiac woodie. 3/4 wood restored and needed to be finished.Did not find out untill the new owner told the story at a A.A.C.A. locale meeting how he bought the car and from who and where. It was not sold yet when i was there looking at the "A". $6000.00 sold for and what a steal it was ! Could not buy the "A" for $6,000.00 and to this day still in the front driveway with NO cover.

typical late June/early July weather here is foggy mornings, sun breaks out around 11-12 with temps in the mid seventies. This year the water is much colder than usual (45 degrees), so hi's today were around 72. Over the hill in Silicon Valley its in the 80's. IN the Sacramento Valley its in the high 90's. There were at least 2 A's from Fresno and Sacramento who drive over every year for the show and the natural air conditioning.

a few years back there were some T's and a 24 Chevy Martin Parry bodied car, but in general the oldest cars are the A's. I'd sure like to see some real oldies here. Nick Alexander drove his 34 up the coast here a few years back. It was the most stunning woodie restoration I have ever seen with every nut and bolt correct. Of course it was auctioned off last August and didn't show. There was a 33 hot rod woodie this time. There were also quite a few big Classics, like Chryslers, Packards, Pontiacs and Olds. This Packard was stunning

this Dodge is a very well known car

and this original wood 36 Ford was my favorite for its elegant simplicity

Pat , thanks again for the more pictures... Dodge must be a odd ball rare woodie. 36 is super too.. I have all the orginial metal works for a 1935/36 ford woodie, rear floor and all metal joints and tracks. Parts are not mine but for a guy in Texas who bought them on ebay.I drove and picked them up for him from upstate N.Y. and just holding them for him [going on now for 3 years +] to be picked up by him??? What was in the barn was unreal// talk about unrestored woodies//// 3 unrestored and 2 restored by a old milk cow farmer..Started to collect these woodies back in the 50's and he tracked them down at all these winter resorts and estates. He also has 2- 35/36 Cabriolet..All inside the barn just sitting there nice and quiet while the cows are outside the barn...I keep on saying someday i'll pay Bob a visit with alot of cash...l.o.l.

Now this is eerie! I just read the posts re Woodies on the Wharf where Peters180a/170b mentions he is storing woodie parts for a fellow in Texas when the phone rings and it's the fellow in Texas calling! I read him the post so I'm sure he'll be in touch with you soon. I speak to this fellow from time to time. I don't follow this forum often only am monitoring a recent thread. No disrespect I usually lurk on the V-8 forum. Great pics Pat, Great sites Great people! Regards Bill.
