Default 46 woody door skins

Do the doors for the woody have to be disassembled to insert the outer door panels? I made templates to make these outer panels. Unfortunately I used a little thinner material than the original thickness panel, they worked BUT I had to wrestle the templates in. I thought I could get completed final panel in with a little work. NOT SO, what is the trick of getting these in the door? Thanks!

No, but It's a real pain, because you need to literally bend them to fit into the mortise. You need to trim them a little smaller to get them to fit.

A related question, I want to replace the inside door skins on my 47 Woodie, as what is there now is just unattractive board. Any source for best wood replacement to get close to original? Thanks. Digger
