Default window glass safety ?

When did FORD start using safety glass. The reason I ask is I cracked my rear window in my 39 pkup. while installing my interior . It was the only original glass with the bug reading 2 39 When I took it out it is like thin house glass . this was an old farm truck. THANKS SUNSHINE

Ford put safety glass for the windshield on the first Model A, late 1927.
Rumour has it that after an accident when out on a test drive of a pre production A, a Ford big wig was badly injured so Henry demanded safety glass.
This is laminated glass, not modern tempered glass. Not used for the other windows, but you could order it at extra expense on later Model A's & probably on the early V8's.
