Default 1/4 Scale Tin Lizzy

Can any one direct me to any information on a mini T manufacured by The McDonough Power Equipment Company in Georgia in the 50's or 60's. It's powered by a Briggs engine and is in good used condition. I think it can be bought, but I need to know if it is desirable or not.
Thanks,
Glenn

All I can tell you is I think one was on the TV show Pawn Stars about 6 months ago. They didn't buy it.

The Tin Lizzie was made by the same people that make Snapper lawn mowers. They sold the rights to it to Sharp Mini Cars in Kansas. They still make it with an improved drive train. www.SharpMiniCar.com

I was involved with an original one years ago & the weak point was the cast aluminum wheels. They come up on eBay once in a while.

Thanks guys...The Sharp Mini Car site is underconstruction, but does give a phone number,so I will give it a call on Monday. The wheels on this one are wood not aluminum.

CharlieB, do you remember what the price was on Pawn Stars...guess I haven't seen that episode.

Sorry no. It had condition issues that affected re-selling it if I remember correctly.

For what it's worth, pun intended, I still have the one I got when I was in third grade back in the early 60's. My dad got it used; I still know the original owner. Mine was built in 1957 by the McDonough company. It's been in storage for years, waiting to be 'restored to mint condition'. It still has the original B&S engine, wood spoke wheels, etc.

If you find a source for parts for it, let me know. Mine has a poorly repaired front fender and when I get around to restoring it, I need one, along with a few other parts.

Thx,
TM

I finally got in touch with Sharp Mini Cars yesterday at 800-310-2590. We had a bad connection, but he did tell me that he has some parts including fenders. I will try to contact them again today.

That is great. If they have any kind of parts list/price list, that would be handy. The project might get started early.

I tried again to day, but no luck...They are hard to get on the phone. Don't know if they have a parts list or not.

Gould Manufacturing in Canada makes them too, but are powered by 9hp Honda motors.

You can check out the episodes of Pawn Stars online if you like.
Here is the site to watch it online: http://www.watchpawnstarsonline.com/...-sub-for-sale/

Hope this helps.

Here are a couple pictures of one I restored for my son in or about 1981 and got it back out recently for my grandson. This one has the original plastic or fiberglass wheels that are cracked and very weak. I ordered new tires from Sharp but not the wheels as they wanted almost $100.00 apiece for them but they were powder coated aluminum, mayby someday but not now, need tires for my bigger car.

Like it. Mine's an older version, judging by the radiator--mine was built in 1957 and has the wood wheels. One of these days I need to find a missing hubcap, along with a fender. Mine doesn't have the engine cover. That red is nice--what a fun kid's car--mine saw many parades and many miles of country dirt roads.

Same here. The one I found has the wooden wheels and no rear cover, and is in pretty nice shape.

Thanks TDF. Pretty much the same car that I found, but mine has the original engine and all the parts that that one is missing including the windshield.

Hello all. Just found this website and posts concerning the 1/4 scale Model T. I just bought a mini T and will pick up this weekend. Cannot tell right now, but it appears to be either a Sharp or a Crue-Cut. It's definitely not a McDonough.

Are there any organized mini-T clubs out there that would be a good source of info and/or tech support?....Thanks...Curt

Look what I found at the car museum at Rosanky, TX yesterday. This is the first one I've seen that is exactly like mine, down to the original B&S motor. Just like mine, it has a bum LF fender. I drove mine so much as a kid I wore a hole in the step plate with the end of the brake lever.

With the museum closing and consolidating with one of their others, I don't know if they will be selling this one off or not.

Any of you folks locate any owner’s manuals or other sources for the mini T’s, aka Shriner Model T? I joined the McDonough Power Equipment Tin Lizzie forum a year ago. I have a McDonough and picked up a “Sharp” (I believe) T yesterday. Thanks
