I have been staying in my garage playing with my Junkers. Working on the 32 and the new junkers I drag home. I did hear Hershey might be canceled. I sure hope not. At least we got the internet which is a must.My brother in law desided to sell his 2 Antique cars. He 83 and doesn't care about them anymore. They have not been run for 10 or 12 years. A 56 Thunderbird and 63 Corvette. Too ease his pain I bought them. They are home in my shed. I was surprise my wife said ok without getting mad. I have been sleeping with one eye open because she said if I buy any more cars she was going to kill me. I know she says that every day to to me for 60 years.Anyway I am on thin ice as usual. She wrote the check so if she says anything about it I say you bought them. I know I have said for the last 11 cars I bought this is the last old car I am buying. She said my word don't hold water? I said that not nice.

So far both of them don't run. I have no idea what I am getting into. Anyway they are pretty to look at. I an repainting the top on the t bird. The Corvette got damage when the trucker boring them home. It came loose and went forward and hit the truck. They are paying to have it repaired. They were more upset them I was.

I think you should practice being more upset. That is a very valuable car, possibly in 6 figures depending on configuration and condition. Take care where you get it repaired; most "body shops" are not up to it. There are details like bonding strips and even the color of the bare fiberglass panels used (if any) that are very important.

You should be aware of the fact that '63 Corvettes are a lot like '32 Fords in that they were the "first of the breed" and underwent running changes throughout the year. A part for a car made in March may be completely different than one from a November car. They are hard to restore because of parts availability and variability.

Again, since it's a split window, it's a very desirable car. Please protect you wife's investment properly.

Go to a shop that professionally restores Corvettes to Corvette registry standards, not your average body shop.

Great cars and what a great wife. I'm scared to mention to my wife that Flowmaster is now making duals for my 2020 Silverado with the same sound I had on the 2019. Maybe I'll just slip them on and she won't notice? HA!

Redneck....tubman is right-on with everything he said about KNOWLEDGEABLE Corvette repair facilities. The average body shop has no clue as to what is "RIGHT". Many shops even use woven fiberglass CLOTH like is used to manufacture 'glass boats because they don't know any better. Heaven help ya if they do 'cuz after a year or so, the cloth weave will show through and will look like burlap under the paint. Find a Corvette SPECIALIST to do any repairs!!!


I'll never forget the first '63 Corvette I ever saw. We were headed home on a school bus in New Orleans in latter '62. While sitting at a red light, a brand-new 1963, Daytona Blue (like yours) coupe pulled-up next to us. A middle-aged guy dressed in a dark suit was driving. The oddest thing about that dark blue coupe was the fact that it had a RED interior. Back then, one could order some really weird combinations. Your coupe sure is sweet looking. Denny (tubman)and I both own mid-year ('63-'67) Corvette coupes, as do about three other F'Barners that I know of. Do you know the horsepower of YOUR car, and is it a 4-speed? DD

Follow what the Corvette guys tell you. If you find a shop ask for references and maybe talk with other Corvette owners in your area. If that car is a nice original you want an expert to repair it.

Follow the wise advice and head to a reputable corvette repair facility. In 1964 I had a brand new 6 month old corvette convertable and while at a stop light when it turned green the idiot in the delivery truck in front of me steps on the gas with it in REVERSE. Back then there were not a lot of shops that could repair that glass body. The local Chevrolet dealer tried 3 times. Look good for about a year then the cracks would show thru.

And, I will repeat, DO NOT let the transport company "off the hook". It could cost you a LOT of money. There are some very good reasons they were right to be concerned.
