Looks familiar. But maybe more like a horn bracket? Is this a quiz? 8^) Jack E/NJ

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
It bolts to the left front of the intake manifold and holds an original type coil

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
Ok well that sums up buying one, did not know they were for the original style coil. What are you guys doing when running a modern coil on a 59A engine? My coil wire is pretty short so the modern coil would have to be in around the same spot.

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
I'd fashion some sort of round (coil-sized) clamp that bolts to those two holes....easy peazy! DD

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
Didn't Mcmimm in Tennessee post he had some original 39 type
coil brackets. I think he wanted $18.00 each. You don't want some abortion hanging on the front of your engine. G.M.

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
Well, this might help you. I am not sure how Coopman found my old pictures, but that is my spare green flathead on a cart and here is pictures of my 27 roadster using that same bracket and a newer style coil like Coopman recommended. Go figure.

Ha...You know what they say...once you post it on the internet, it's there FOREVER! So be careful about posting pics of frolicking-around with all your girlfriends! But seriously, the "SEARCH" function is priceless. I merely typed-in "1948 coil bracket" and your pics were some of several that popped-up. Much appreciated, too! And OH YEAH, great minds obviously think alike!! DD |

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
Thanks for the help on this guys. I know have an idea that I think will work. I cannot use the original style bracket with a modern one the way zzlegend has because my early 21 stud has a waterpump right there. No worries, I will fan something up.

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
I made a little bracket to mount a modern coil on our 34 before I found out about Skips coils, If you want I will drag it out and get a pic of it

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
I really enjoy making brackets. With a little planning, they are usually less than a one day project, and when they come out the way you want, very satisfying. I had a field day when I put the hemi in my dirt modified.

Me TOO! I've always taken pride in my ability to envision, and then fabricate a bracket to perform some necessary function. It's even better when it's appropriate to make a bracket or fitting out of aluminum, as I love doing fine, hand-finish work with a file to "make-pretty". DD |

Re: Coil bracket? ‘42 and up
Shouldn't the coil wires be attached with Ford tube nuts and not hex heads?
