Default 1930/1931 Victoria Roof

If you have to replace the top on a Victoria, is it possible to put on a "leather back" top instead of the conventional top? What changes have to be made with the top bows, etc.? Ed

the drip rails on a leather back are nailed on, an the ones on the steel back are spot welded on. and then you would have to drill a lot of holes for the hid`em and there is not any wood behind the skin to nail everything to. the wood kits are not the same. I for one wood not attempt it.

I am assuming that you have a Steel back Vicky. As John stated, it would be very difficult. It would be easier to sell your Vicky and purchase a leather back.

I have no idea of the condition of your Victoria, but if you have one that you plan to cut up please send me a PM. Bob

If you are trying ito to convert a leather back to a steel back forget it. The belt rail there the leather back accepts the tacks for the "leather" is not there. The rear window is different and without the method to accept the tacks. And so on.

Surviving Steel-Backs are fewer in number, especially ones with flat firewalls. Swap your Steel-Back for a Leather-Back.
