OK, I just gotta say it. I have been to Belgium only once and likely will never get there again. Beautiful country but I will have no practical use for learning their language. If I somehow needed to learn, which would I learn? Dutch, French, German, Flemish, or should I just stick with English? You guys in Belgium use all of them!
I live just down the road from Fargo, ya know, and my English is the right one, ya betcha.

Boy. All this because a typo reversed two letters in a post?
Uffda!

Good points but your president has ignited a lot of debate about grammar.

Its not about the grammar; its about the intent behind it.

That is also my opinion.
I try to write and to express myself in English as good as possible.
Sometimes I have to read the text of some 'americans over and over again and I still can't figure out what they mean to say. But than I always think it's me... and I'm afraid to ask some explanation.

Everyone is ignorant...just in different subjects.

You're doing great with your English. In fact better than many Americans these days, as schools aren't teaching the basics like they used to. Now days it's more about teaching you to feel good about yourself and getting a trophy for just showing up. Many schools have dropped shop classes. Wonder where that extra money is going?

And on top of that I just received a private message from "Red Ryder"(in correct English?...);

"Smart ass
You keep saying things like that you be banned."

Yes, being banned is always a worry now. My last post was supposed to be humor (or humour) and I hope it was taken that way. Belgium has several languages but the USA is getting to be that way now too with all the Spanish speaking and Somali speaking immigrants that have recently been moving here plus many others. I hope they will all eventually accept English as it is spoken by most people here, it is less confusing to me.

But simply mixing up two letters in a word does not mean the end of the world. Sftuf happens.

I must agree with Tom as I think our Begium friend's English is far better than a lot I have read here.As I said to my American cousin when she said she wanted to learn a second language, why not try English! Thank heavens for the special relationship....
