Default Generator Oil Cup remove/replace

I need to replace the oil cup on my generator. I have a new one coming, but
am wondering about the best (easiest) way to remove the old one that is missing the closure spring.

Thanks. I loosened it with pliers and then used my trusty Vise-Grips to get it out. Maybe I should put the mangled oil cup on eBay......when I see some of the stuff people try to sell, it's probably worth a shot!!
