pros vs cons?
I'm needing my 50 Merc dizzy rebuilt (short in inside wire?)
And am wondering if I should have my oem dizzy rebuilt by Bubba or go for the chevy conversation? Merc is mostly stock Pro and cons ? Tks, Randy |

Re: pros vs cons?
depending on your ability to tune, a Chevy conversion might need tweeking of the advance rate and amount according to what your engine likes best. If you are going to just plug it in and play, IMHO the stock unit would be better for you. A chevy unit would give optimum performance IF you understand how to change it around.

I would go with the Chevy conversion, should provide you better performance. The original unit will work fine IF the carb is also original and in good working condition, but still lacks the mechanical advance feature.

If your car is all original, stay original. If modified, go modified.

Re: pros vs cons?
Just a note , our chevrolet conversion comes curved with the correct advance for the flathead . No need to adjust or change a thing.
To answer his question , i would use the loadamatic assuming the engine is pretty much stock.... |

Bubba conversion...I love it. At least give him a call and he can walk you through your options. Bubba (Jim Linder) is a class guy and won't just try to pick your pocket. He has been there to answer questions for me about ignitions anytime they came up. Use the link he posted to learn more. http://www.bubbasignition.com/

Re: pros vs cons?
I doubt Bubba can help Caitlyn because Bruce did the Bobbette conversion.
