Default Fender Serrations

Plan to use a thread file to enhance the serrations around my fenders. I have made a note (don’t recall source) to use the 18TPI side, but just found that the 24TPI side fits my existing serrations better. Any possibility HF started with 24 and changed later?

Gotta be careful when using just initials. I thought HF stands for Harbor Frieght.
