Default Trans gears question

Are trans gears interchangeable for all years of the Model A? I know about the case and the bearings and the thrust washers. But are the gears all the same?

there is a different input shaft/gear for multi disc clutch, it has a threaded place for a nut.

It depends on the case , does it have 4 bolt holes or 8 on the front of the case? And also the bell housing and flywheel, are they multi-disc or a single disc clutch !
thank you " edit "

There is a difference in the reverse idle gear from the 1928 to the later 29-31. The 28 gear did not have a lube hole drilled through the side of the gear. The 28 reverse idle gear received lubrication from a hole in the end of the shaft that had a small open ended cup inserted in the shaft end to catch the oil. Not a good design as metal particles from gear wear lodged into the shaft cup, sometimes causing premature wear to the reverse idler bushing and shaft. Sometimes the hole just became plugged. Use the plain reverse gear shaft, with the reverse gear that has the drilled hole.
If you want.....the new shafts have "O-rings" installed to seal the shaft in the casing also.

Gears are pretty much the same except for the differences in the early trans. The new manufactured gears sold by the various parts houses are very good. We installed a complete set in the Model A Times projects sedan before going to Texas. The car is very quiet and shifts well. You might consider using new gears, these are USA made and are of excellent quality. We are working on an article regarding them to run in the near future.
