Default Anyone a car tag collector/Preserver?

Anyone here on the barn collect car tags and preserve old tags. In particular I have several with little rust spots popping up but the overall paint is good and original. What do you use or how do you stop the rust but not effect the original finish?

I'd use drops of metal prep applied spot by spot.

Would that be the POR 15 Metal Prep?? AND I figured a small artist or hobby type brush would be the best applicator. (?)

Have you tried black shoe polish, the black color will not discolor the paint.

It may be wiser to leave them alone as they are only original once and anything you do to them can actually devalue them.
