Default Installing fog lights

I'm installing some fog lights on my 46 truck. It is the stock 6v positive ground electrics. I would like to power these lights via a relay. My question is would the Bosch 6v relay work for this application and would I need just one or would I need two ( one for each light). Anyone have a wiring diagram? Thanks for any input.

You need one and yes on the diagram.

I updated my original post, I was thinking high/low beams.

I would use the diagram for a fuel pump I have attached, the wire to the pump would be the fog lights and would Y to go to both pumps. I will also attach a headlight diagram if that helps any, you would only use one of the relays and a switch would replace the dimmer.

Am about half awake and screwing up a little (OK a lot!) LOL See if any of this helps, I can draw up a fog light specific diagram in the morning, but I'm to out of it tonight!!!!

How are you wanting to control them, dedicated toggle switch or the existing lighting control?
Are you wanting to use original style wiring or modern wiring?

Yes it is late and I am not in a big hurry. I was thinking of controlling them from a simple toggle switch and the wiring is some left over from Rhode Island Wiring (12ga I think).

Good luck on your installation. Please dont drop any of your bulbs. I have been looking for some for awhile and the ones i found are extremely expensive.

2x JSeery ..... My '47 uses a single relay in the engine compartment. Power for the fog lights themselves comes from the battery thru a 20 amp in-line fuse near the relay in the engine compartment. Power to operate the relay (small amperage draw) comes from my ignition switch thru a toggle switch under edge of dash with LED in its knob to let me know when its turned on - good for us old-folk.

I use 12 volts and a 20 amp rated relay. Since your operating at 6 volts I'd recommend a 30 amp relay (same cost; maybe same relay pending manufacturer).

Interesting! I didn't know that 6v would activate a 12v relay. Also, will any led work with 6v? Thanks.

Not a good idea! 6v will sometimes latch a 12v relay, but you are right on the lower edge of the latching rating and they are not dependable. Much better to just start with a 6v relay in the first place.

That diagram will do nicely. I kinda thought that is how it would be wired but just wanted to be sure. Thank you!
