Default Spark and control rod interference

Has anyone had this problem? After reinstalling the closed cab on my 31 pickup I started reassembling the other components. I never removed the drivetrain or steering column.Everything went together fine but when I went to install the throttle control rod it interferes with the starter switch shaft. I also noticed that the spark control rod rubs on the engine. Anyone have any ideas or experience with this?

what body do you have. on the ones with the drop steering column, like the Victoria and A400. the spark rod does rub on the head and the throttle rod has a bend in it to clear the starter rod.

Loosen steering column clamp on the steering box, loosen the column clamp on the dash.
Turn/adjust column as needed.
Retighten clamp on steering box THEN the column clap under the dash.
Done

On my car the spark advance rod rubs the head slightly. When i got the car it had an arced bow to it that affected performance but cleared the head.
