Default hubcaps?

How to hold 40s style hubcaps on a modern 15" wheel that doesn't have the nubs

stamped into the wheel to hold the cap on???

Measure in to see where they are placed and put weld beads on the wheels in 4 places like where the bumps are. Of course, the opening must be large enough to accommodate the diameter of the hubcap, check this before you do anything.

If you can find someone who has a wheel with the 'innie' nubs who
will let you do a lot of measuring, so you get the nubs positioned
exactly where you need them to be, then weld and grind till cap fits.

When you cut the 'outie' nubs off from the newer wheel, you will
need to do some welding and grinding there too.

What kind of wheel? OEM steelie? Check Vintique Wheels, they have some to fit various models they sell, maybe they would have something that would work.
