Default Machine maintance !!

Sometimes ya just gotta stop and do equipment machine/maintance . My Fluke 88 stopped working the other day ( maybe a month ago ) and i knew it needed a new 9 volt battery.
Testing a while ago my tach modification on my Allen SYNC machine also died and i suspected a dead gel cel battery i have used for many years .

SO today i came in put a new 9 volt in the fluke. ( the fluke 98A is the automotive version and is the best around maybe expensive but its the best !!)
And replaced the feed battery for my testing in back of the Allen ......
Swept the floor and am ready for some more ......

I agree with you on the Fluke , I decided many years ago when working with high voltage that a cheap v.o.m can lead to death, I had a friend who bought the Chinese junk and almost got zapped due to a v.o.m failure, I am on my second fluke 73,they last forever.

The only digital VOM I own is a Fluke 88. Fluke stuff is the "real deal"! DD

I agree. "If it works, it's a Fluke".

I am still using a Heathkit VOM I built years ago. I have a Fluke digital for newer vehicles, but the analog meter is often more useful when chasing problems involving older vehicles not using millivolt values. While is certainly true that there are no good, and cheap tools, an inexpensive analog meter is a good part of my "road kit" in the trunk

Man, I haven't seen on of those Simpson 260s in a long time. I had one that died at some point years ago.

I also have a bunch of Beckman stuff I got for free. But as the saying goes:

'I don't always buy electronic testers, but when I do, I buy Fluke.'
