Question shaking front end

I was returning home from a car show this afternoon when the front end started shaking. sort of scared me. I pulled over and checked the front wheels. I grabbed the wheel to see if there was any play. There was none. I looked around at the perches, drag link shocks. every thing seem fine. I started the model A up and drove the rest of the way home with no problems.
Has anyone experienced this and what could it be?

Search for "Death Wobble" on this site.

Do a search on "Death Wobble" here. It has been discussed MANY times.
BTW, what oil do you use??!
Here's one result to that search.

The first thing I'd do is make sure the toe-in is 1/16" and make sure the front wheel bearings aren't too loose. My temporary front axle is worn very sloppy, but I've never had the death wobble.

check for tightness in the wishbone on the axle and at the back end of it.

This is often the cause. There is a reproduction rubber ball socket. If you have this it is suggested replacing with original.

I had a death wobble in my coupe. Could not stop it from occasionally happening until I replaced the rubber ball mentioned in post #6 with an original system. This affected the caster and the original system fixed it. Went for several yers until I sold it.. never a problem again.
